2025 Asia-Pacific Youth Micro Movie Festival Focuses on Youth Dream Pursuit and Family Harmony
The Closing Ceremony of the 3rd Asia-Pacific Youth Micro Movie Festival was successfully held on 30 January 2026. Organised by JCI Hong Kong, China, fully supported by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau, and sponsored by The Charities Trust of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the event gathered over 200 participants from JCI Hong Kong, China, government bodies and non-governmental organisations, the general public, and students. The event attracted wide participation and received favourable feedback.
Established in 2023 by JCI Hong Kong, China, the Asia-Pacific Youth Micro Movie Festival is one of its flagship projects. Up to the conclusion of this year’s edition, a total of 90 outstanding youth movie productions have been selected. The festival aims to recognise the outstanding talent and boundless creativity of young filmmakers across the Asia-Pacific region. Serving as a bridge through cinematic language, it promotes film and cultural exchanges among countries and territories in the region, conveys positive values to society, fully showcases the creativity and positive energy of young people, and provides a premium platform for young creators to showcase their works and engage in exchanges.
The 2025 Asia-Pacific Youth Micro Movie Festival, with the theme "Young Minds Ignite, Family Ties Unite", encourages young people to actively participate in film creation and demonstrate innovative thinking. At the same time, it upholds the value of family harmony, inspiring youth to reflect deeply on family and social issues in their works and integrate positive ideals into their creative process. All selected productions follow unified guidelines, with a runtime of around 20 minutes each. Featuring a wide range of themes and diverse styles, the works explore cultural phenomena across the Asia-Pacific and the personal journeys of young individuals, offering the audience a rich cinematic experience.
The festival was honoured to invite renowned Malaysian artist Ms Lin Min-Chen as Event Ambassador to elevate the event’s profile and international visibility. During the ceremony, Ms Lin Min-Chen shared her aspirations and perseverance in the entertainment industry, inspiring young participants with her personal journey. She remarked: “Film is a powerful medium for diverse cultures sharing stories and emotions. It inspires all young people with filmmaking dreams to stay determined and create bravely.”
Asia-Pacific Youth Micro Movie Festival Community Screenings
To further extend the event’s influence and foster cross-cultural exchange and connection, four community screening sessions were successfully organised. A total of 14 films by young directors from Mainland China, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Singapore, India and Hong Kong were featured. Covering cultural heritage, youth growth, family affection and other diverse themes, the works fully demonstrate the creative vitality and multicultural vision of Asia-Pacific youth.
Apart from JCI members, the screenings also drew enthusiastic participation from the general public and students. Through the medium of film, community audiences were able to enjoy international short films, while face-to-face dialogue between local communities and young international filmmakers was facilitated to enhance mutual understanding.
The 3rd Asia-Pacific Youth Micro Movie Festival has concluded successfully. It not only offered a stage for young directors across the Asia-Pacific to showcase their talents, but also promoted regional cultural exchanges and conveyed the passion and positive values of young creators, allowing these cinematic stories to leave a lasting social impact.
It is anticipated that similar events will continue to be held in the future, gathering more young Asia-Pacific creators to connect people through imagery, support youth in pursuing their dreams, and drive the integration and development of diverse cultures.
