First half of 2026
From the editor, first half of 2026
It is with immense pride and excitement that I welcome you to the first issue of Harbour Lights for 2026. As JCI Hong Kong, China embarks on its 76th anniversary, we are inspired by the enduring spirit of "ONE FOR ALL", a theme that beautifully encapsulates our collective commitment to fostering positive change and empowering young leaders within our community and beyond.
This year, Harbour Lights embraces the theme of "創。造" (Creation. Innovation). This theme reflects our belief in the boundless potential of human ingenuity and the transformative power of new ideas. For this first issue, we delve into the essence of "創" (Creation), exploring how individuals and initiatives are shaping a better future through their pioneering efforts.
In this spirit, we are honored to feature an exclusive interview with Dr. Liao Shu Hang (廖書衡), one of the distinguished recipients of the 2025 Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) Award. Dr. Liao, a visionary young entrepreneur and the founder of the "Work For All" platform, exemplifies the very core of "Creation" through his dedication to public and social services. His journey and insights offer a compelling narrative of how innovative thinking and unwavering commitment can lead to significant societal impact.
As you turn the pages of this issue, we hope you will be inspired by the stories of creation, leadership, and service. May they ignite your own passion to contribute to a world where every individual can thrive and make a meaningful difference.
Second half of 2026
From the editor, second half of 2026
Welcome to the second issue of Harbour Lights.
This issue is inspired by the theme “創。造” — Create. Crafting. To create is to imagine possibilities, to challenge the familiar and to take the first step towards something new. Crafting is the process of bringing those ideas to life through patience, skill and perseverance. Together, “創。造” captures both the vision to imagine and the dedication to shape ideas into something meaningful.
This spirit resonates strongly with JCIHK’s theme, “One for All.” Meaningful creation is never achieved alone. It is built through collaboration, shared purpose and the belief that every individual contribution can make a difference to the wider community. When we come together, ideas become stronger, possibilities become greater and our collective efforts can create lasting impact.
In this issue, we explore the stories of makers who embody this spirit. Through our features on N.I.P., a Hong Kong gin distillery, and Hong Kong’s printing industry, we discover how passion, innovation and persistence can transform ideas into tangible experiences. Their journeys remind us that crafting is not simply about producing a product; it is about preserving values, expressing identity and shaping the future of Hong Kong.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to NP, NEVP, NVP and ND for their trust, encouragement and unwavering support in bringing this issue to life.
We hope this issue reminds us that every meaningful creation begins with a simple idea, but takes courage, patience and collaboration to bring it to life. May the stories of these makers inspire us to create with purpose, craft with conviction and contribute to something greater than ourselves. Together, we are truly One for All.
